Our Story
Six decades of passion for the sound that started it all.
From Transistor Radio to Turntable
It started in Redford Township, MI in 1961, when a young Geoff first became fascinated by how sound traveled through radio waves and speakers. That curiosity quickly turned into an obsession, hooked on rock and roll, he spent every spare moment glued to AM stations like WKNR, CKLW, and other Detroit based radio stations, soaking in the wave of new music the world was calling the British Invasion.
His first transistor radio sparked a lifelong pursuit, not just of music, but of the gear that brought it to life. He picked up a guitar at eight years old and never put it down. Along the way, each upgrade in audio equipment deepened his ear and his appreciation for quality craftsmanship.
Six decades later, that same passion drives Great Lakes Vintage Audio. What began as one kid chasing better sound has evolved into a carefully curated collection of vintage audio gear, each piece selected with the expertise that only comes from a lifetime of listening.
